Hi ! My name is Edo van Royen, I’m 19 years old and I consider myself to be a true entrepeneur. I’m currently in the prospect of launching 2 new start-ups this summer.
In this blog I will write about me trying to be one of the big boys and everything surrounding this adventurous life. Coping with the dishes, business life, school, and fat multinationals smoking corrupt cigars.

At the age of 13 I decided I wanted to have my own webcompany, I designed a shabby website, and put it up on the free webspace that came along with our adsl connection. Obviously I didn’t get any customers, but at least I had a start !
Age 14, wanting to have a real company, I co-founded youngbits together with my friend Daniel. Without fully realizing the responsibilities that go hand in hand with being a webhost, we set out to register ourselves at the Dutch chamber of commerce. April 2004 was the official opening of our little hosting firm.
We started by outsourcing our equipment to the US, where we rented a managed dedicated server.
After many crashes, problems and frustration we invested in our own servers and moved to the xs4all datacenter in Amsterdam, where we have resided until September 2007. September 2007 was also when Daniel started working at Dutch radiostation SlamFM! and therefore stopped working at youngbits.
At Daniel’s leave I decided to turn things around, youngbits has been an awesome learning experience for me wherein I have learned all the important aspects of business, but now it was time to move on. I finished what I started at youngbits and created a brand new image, then sold off the entire company to the next eager entrepeneur wanting to learn more about the hosting business.
I started two new startups, Spudu and Linkvive
Spudu - 17th of August 2008
Spudu is a “multi-search engine”. This means that you can easily access several search-engines on one startpage. Find what you search for effortlessly, with nothing more then a single click !
I launched Spudu the 17th of August 2008 together with two awesome scripters, Pepijn van Gastel and Vincent de Jager. If you like Spudu please leave me a message, feedback is also always welcome !
Linkvive - Still in stealthmode
The other startup is called Linkvive and is currently still in stealth mode.
